Most enterprise arrays will crawl the entire system constantly as a background process to correct for things like bit flip errors.
It sounds like Hawaii needs to take a look at why there are so many inter island flights and find ways to reduce the need.
This effect is already taken into account on a lot of enterprise data systems. Bit flip errors due to radiation are monitored and corrected. Not sure how high the erorr rate could be before the system falls apart though
The solution is to de-commoditize the housing market. Block all foreign and corporate ownership of single family homes. Throw out all the speculators.
