They’d rather reinterpret actual classics like They Live, The Matrix, and Paul Verhoeven’s Starship Troopers because they’re so much better!
The only problem with doing so is that making these types of stories conform to fascist ideology requires a level of simplification most people would find intolerable and boring. "They Live" is in its own way reminiscent of antisemitic "lizard people" mythology, and could therefore easily be reworked into Nazi propaganda, but the critique of consumer culture and Reaganomics would become completely vestigial if that were to happen. Without that, how is it meant to be compelling or relevant decades later?
The only genre fascists have left is stock medieval European fantasy. And that really doesn't count. Even though the logic of race science and white supremacy is "baked into" these stories the same way flour, water, and yeast are "baked into" a loaf of bread, all these stories are still about people putting aside their racial differences and working together!
I would personally be embarrassed to admit that my idea of a perfect society has only ever appeared in children's fiction, doubly so if I clearly wasn't paying attention to the actual story and just bizarrely projected my Nazi hog-cranking fantasy onto it.
It does confound me slightly that this stupid idea of reality is completely removed from the world as it is while simultaneously having more political momentum behind realizing it than even social democracy does, much less socialism proper... can't have shit in the anglosphere.
Telling that these grievances all center around foreign policy and trade. "We uphold the commitments we make!" YOU can uphold the commitments YOU make with MY tax dollars, I'll just go and mind my own business.
If I were to feel inclined to fight in the streets, it would be over the unlawful deportation of my neighbors, the genocide my government is financing, or my right to live as a woman and love who I deem fit. Ukraine will simply never be on my list of priorities.
The Jews in question feel the need to invoke their Jewishness when denouncing the genocide undertaken in their name because certain other Jews have been attempting to spot weld Jewishness with fealty to the Zionist colonial project for several decades. These same people use their own Jewishness as leverage for Zionism, crying over oppression and how it's their turn to wear the boot which has never actually stamped on their own faces. The degree of hypocrisy is almost stunning.
"We at the White House are very concerned about the antisemitic rhetoric on our college campuses, so we're deporting all our Arab exchange students to CECOT (and the Chinese ones too for good measure). Also, how dare you criticize our neo-nazi diversity hire?"
I do recall a time Chinese international students were game pieces in the propaganda war against their mother country, how these students escaped communist repression and are now breathing the sweet air of liberty. Suddenly, they're dangerous agitators parasitizing our academic institutions by "studying in critical fields" and having "connections to the CCP." It's as if sometime during the past decade, we began seeing China less as a punching bag and more as a threat.
"Maoists" are often westerners who have inherited decades of failure to achieve socialist revolutions in their own countries. They are free to spend too much time thinking about what socialism should be and could be in their heads rather than what socialism is. To many of us, socialism is simply the opposite of capitalism rather than its negation, therefore socialism must be the absence of the most hated features of capitalism in our experiences and opinions. China doesn't always live up to these expectations.
If you've never actually lived under socialism, you have no frame of reference for understanding how it's different from capitalism. If you've never seen anything but capitalism, you don't know how to identify its absence. This, more than anything, is what ultras struggle with. I think that's something we can all relate to on some level, even if some have a better handle on it than others.
Coming from whitepower1488 I have to assume this means Africa is doing quite well.
