  • Brave has many features that other browsers don’t offer

    Such as? Crypto nonsense?

The adblocker? OK I guess, except they are still just a middle man for ads (hence the crypto nonsense).

    I dont see the value.

  • I agree with you, yet I am sure there are lawyers who will argue that it would be against their terms of service.

I am with the old school crowd: you put stuff on the internet however you like, and I will render it however I like.

  • All funded with Facebook and Instagram and a touch of glasses and oculus.

Things so easy to simply not use and even with this evidence of how shitty they are (nevermind the ability to shift politics) people won't quit.

    We are all fucked.

  • Laughs in, well simply not playing the game. No YouTube anymore. That was easy.

  • I just quit watching youtube. No participation is even better than trying to get around it.

  • Yeah I am pretty pissed off that this article is conflating issues by even suggesting this.

The legal grey area they are alluding to is ad blocking. I don't think it's grey but that has to be what they are saying.

But the article is about third party apps and Google being a fuckwit.

This waters down the discussion, and is a unnecessary diversion.

  • I went to a Microsoft site to fill out a form to register for a 2 two conference. My CPU shot up to 100 percent. The task manager (in the browser) told me that this was using a huge amount of computer for a ton of javascript running on a page that didn't need any at all.

It is very abused for analytics, little is used to make a page "nice" anymore.

  • Seems like people should get off their lazy asses and quit playing video games all day.

  • Thread 768 of wherin a Lemmy user thinks they are very smart, but unlikely read the article.

  • Guilty? Isn't that just basically health food? That was the craze when I was younger anyways.

Guilty pleasure is like strawberry ice cream with hot fudge sauce in a sugar waffle cone or something like that. Maybe deep fried.

Oh maybe you are saying that combination. But garlic and cheese go well together, no surprise there either. That is kind of cottage cheeses lot in the world: it kind of works with most things. Dont have enough ricotta for your manicotti? Cottage cheese will do in a pinch, and well.

  • I guess the ramps did go over the playfield, so in that way I guess it was 3d.

I had to look it up: cinematronics called the platform "Full Tilt! Pinball", AKA "Pinball 95" and it came with three tables, space cadet being one of them. But it was not 3d space cadet pinball, it was just space cadet. The one that came on the windows plus for 95 was a shortened version - less content- as well.

Then microsoft licensed it for themselves and merged that name "3d pinball for windows".

  • 3d? What about it was 3d?

It was okay I guess. Not really all that great, but I don't recall a 3d aspect.

  • If I don't want to use them, I am not making an account. I already have a billion accounts I don't need yet another, and certainly not a Microsoft one.

But go back to the original question OP posed: two distinct things, Offline and Long Term.

I don't trust Microsoft, Minecraft is dead to me and I cannot count on them long-term.

Requiring an account is not offline.

So Minecraft does not meet op's requirements.

  • Weird. The URL you have does that for me too, but my subscription link works fine as well as just searching the community and opening it.

  • That's weird. Why would I do that?

  • Huh? What are you talking about?

  • Do you know how forums work?

  • logging in with a microsoft account

Well that is a big no.

  • Microsoft? No thanks. I'll stick with Luanti.

Charlie Miller posted: I recently picked up a box of Jerry Garcia soundboard cassette masters (1974-1978) some of which don’t circulate. The first one I mastered is from the March 14, 1976 second set

Would really like to see this sub grow. I would like to not go to reddit anymore, but even Charlie Miller posts when he has new stuff there. So what can I do? What would make you come back?

Grateful at 60. What do you think?
