  • It is simply impossible to switch from one place to the other with a finger snip. Building communities takes time.

  • Reddit isn't their target audience. The reddit community is small compared to the user base in the big picture.

  • Split tunneling isn't there yet.

Split Tunneling won't be possible with the current backend (Network Manager) as that is just not technically feasible, but once we get the native backends that will definitely be possible. But the rest, will be there in due time.

  • It is a copy paste from the reddit announcement. And we don't necessarily have all the links here yet to link back to.

  • Neither does the fact that they gave up the email account of a climate protestor when subpoena’d to do so, but everyone wants to just memory hole that whenever I bring it up on lemmy or scream about how /obviously/ a company that presents itself as secure and privacy respecting has to comply with the law!

Nevermind that there are more secure and privacy respecting alternatives for both VPNs and Email. Shh. Not important.

Oh come on, still beating that dead horse? Isn't it already way dead? Protecting or offering privacy does not mean lawless state. Proton is protecting its users privacy and at the same time, as a swiss company, has to follow swiss laws. The only law that matters is Swiss law.

By the way, about climate protestor, maybe it is time to get the facts straight. It is never mentioned and conviently left out always:

Also, the charges leveraged in the French case were theft and destruction of property, which were well evidenced, substantiated, and quite serious crimes. Their identity was known to police already.

  • Proton @lemmy.world

The Proton VPN Linux app now supports Permanent Kill Switch!

  • Proton @lemmy.world

The Proton Pass Windows app is now available for everyone

  • Can you please report that behaviour through the app to the support team please? Feel free to DM me the ticket number. I'd like to forward that to the team for an internal follow up.

  • Shitpost & body shaming -> removed.

  • Just saying, this is indeed the correct way :-)

  • You can. 1 free account and unlimited paid accounts.

  • Shamelessly stolen from reddit 😜

Hey there, depending on the plan, you get access to unlimited vaults and hide-my-email addresses, Proton Sentinel (account takeover protection), ability to enforce 2FA, and built-in 2FA authenticator. More features such as SSO and groups coming soon!

  • Normally updates should be shown in Aurora IIRC.

  • What are they doing all day long?

It might surprise you, but working. ;) (Clearly, as your statement implied they do not do anything).

  • I really have no idea and I'd also like to know of course ;-)

  • Andy did not say "a few years" in those words in that interview. When making such statements, please do link to the exact source (e.g timestamp in the video) and not just to a 1h22 long interview and leave everyone to find the source of the quote on their own. Please use correct quotes.

For anyone looking for it, it is around the 42min mark:

Andy mentioned "sooner or later" and that Drive is essentially harder than bringing VPN to Linux. Andy explained well with technical reasons why Linux is challenging (different filesystems, kernel differences, different file browsing experiences, different desktop environnments as example) and mentioned he could see an Ubuntuy version in probably in the next ~24 months. To get to a state where he can comfortably say that the main Linux distributions are 90% supported could take essentially longer. He also mentioned that he wants to get something out there for Drive users in the next year or two.

  • Proton @lemmy.world

Proton Pass for business is now available

  • I can fully agree to that feeling.
