  • Out of the Lemmy apps I tried out, Voyager is the app I used the most, and it is definitely a great app! But I did miss the smoothness and customisability of Sync, so I will most likely use that on my phone from now on.

As much as I like Voyager, I do feel like there is some slowdowns/stuttering and feeling of the GUI not always doing what I intended to do. Not a lot, but enough to sit in the back of my mind.

That being said I'm still using Voyager on the iPad and also in the browser on my PC! (Which reminds me that I should try installing the Voyager app from the iPad app store, maybe that'll actually fix the occassional slowdowns.)

  • Yeah they are empty on my phone too, and I've never used any DNS-adblocking on my home network. I suspect it might be because whatever ad system Sync uses currently just doesn't have any ads for my country, but I don't actually know.

  • Help, my ads are broken, it's just a blank box with the text "Sponsored content", is it just because the app is still in beta? I don't have any adblocking installed on my phone lol

Oh well I may buy lifetime once that is available anyhows.

  • I'm not young either but I guess that's just emoji speak for "puppy eyes"? Although I've only seen it used in memes so I have no idea if kids are actually using it in messaging unironically...

  • To a child, one might say that was the warmest July you have ever seen. “But there is another way to think about it,” he said. “It is possible to flip the story around and to say, ‘Well, this is probably one of the coolest summers you’ll ever see in your life.’”

Man, this has the same energy as that Simpsons scene / meme

  • I read some interview about how they had to "nerf" the headcrabs by making them latch on to your chest instead of actually your face because it was too intense for VR, haha

    Loved the game!

  • I accidentally sorted by old once, saw a bunch of "testing" posts, it was kinda amusing.

  • On my Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 I also noticed it takes a second or so after tapping before the animation even starts. It's not unbearable or anything, but it's enough to make me think that I missed the button and try tapping again sometimes.

  • Honestly at this point if that happens often enough and drives even more "regular" redditors away from reddit (and hopefully to Lemmy), I'm all for it.

  • Hmm, I'm getting "Connection refused", seems like they are having server issues?

  • Haha cool, unlike old.reddit this also looks great on mobile!

  • I'm testing an optimization on lemm.ee (1000x speed-up for subscribed feed) - please let me know if you notice any issues!

  • Haha, that reminds me of some story about a dev who had to add a timer/slowdown to the loading progress bar in some software, because when it worked instantly, the users thought that it did not work at all!

  • Integration with Google Assistant smart speakers is the main reason I would want to use Google Tasks instead of other Todo solutions. In particular, asking Google to add groceries to my shopping list while I'm cooking, so that I don't need to bring out my phone and tap it in manually since my hands are occupied or dirty.

But the integration has sucked for so long that I had pretty much given it up. Maybe if it really actually works now (instead of putting my tasks into various other Google services), I will give Google Tasks another shot.

  • Or mammoth restaurant

  • You're welcome, glad that someone enjoyed my suggestion!

Yeah with Slay the Spire there is often some slight feeling of "I lost because I didn't get any good cards", but in this game I more often feel like I died because I messed up my resource management and priorities haha (still haven't beat it once yet...)

  • "I asked for a hint and all I got was some suspicious pills, 1/10 would not play again"

  • Card Quest (Android) has similar dated graphics, but I got kinda into it lately. It's a card-based roguelike, with a fixed deck that only changes with inventory/skill changes.

  • Man I played their browser game way back when, the humor was pretty funny, but I haven't been able to make time to consider trying their console games.
