  • Having some distance while working on yourself is probably better. Maintaining friendships at least somewhat. Everybody needs and deserves human connection. If you believe you are toxic to other people and harm them, then limit the amount of time per person. But remember, it's not only your responsibility, if they are bothered by your toxicity, then they also have a responsibility towards themselves. Do not make that decision for people, maybe you are not as toxic as you believe.

Being toxic is also not a permanent state of being. People change, and they do it all the time.

I have friends that struggle with mental issues, they can be too much sometimes. It is however always nice to spend a couple of hours here and there. Life is not black and white. You are not either toxic or not toxic. Most people can be pleasant for a couple of hours once in a while.

If you believe you are toxic, then fake it til you make it. Be fake positive and fake nice for an hour or two, after a while it will become second nature, and then it will become who you are. If you have views that you consider toxic, then challenge them. Use UnpopularOpinion or other forums to discuss then. If your views differ from most other people, then maybe it's something you should challenge. Either you convince people or you are convinced.

If you realize you said or did something toxic, just apologize.

Just giving up is harmful towards yourself. You deserve happiness.

  • Similar security as Android. Being able to install apps without checking too closely if it is safe or not

  • I have watched every episode, it's hilarious. Episodes ranging from them trying "the godfather of drugs" (heroin), to him stealing a wheelchair. I guess it might be too much for some people though, my wife can not watch it for similar reasons.

I feel the same way about being born in Norway. I come from unfortunate circumstances as you call it, and I am doing well. This is thanks to the extensive free education that I have gotten.

  • Besides the number system you got most things under control in Denmark.

You also have one of the greatest shows, Klovn 😂

  • You have those gaming laptops called predator from MSI or something. That is an unfortunate brand name.

  • As long as you have that ridiculous "to og en halvfjers" counting system, you do not have a superior system 😉

  • I have been thinking about how or if I would track my own children. I do not have any at the moment though.

I think the only system that would work with tracking and still be ethical is a system with accountability.

They need to know that I would never check unless there was an emergency. So we'd have to have some sort of immutable log that they can check regularly. So they know if I checked their location. It should not be like a panopticon. in which they don't know if the parent is checking their location or not. That changes behaviour. Even with the trust that I would not check, just me having the option would alter behaviour probably.

Youth and kids are independent individuals with their own rights to privacy, autonomy, right to select their own friends and acquaintences, right to freedom of expression and movement, right to make mistakes, etc. If they are thought right and have a high trust bond with their parents, preferably with little judgement, then it will probably be fine and most issues can be solved.

  • One can be against the capitalist system, but as long as it exists and one has to participate, then Jack Bogles introduction of low cost index funds changed investments for regular people. Paying <0.3% yearly in costs is a huge improvement.

  • I don't get why people support the death penalty in certain cases. It is never fair, moral or ethical.

This man did something absolutely horrible, but not close, not even by a factor of ten, to what the Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik did.

In Norway we imprisoned him, probably for life, but we don't kill him. We make sure he has a life that is reasonably comfortable inside prison. Because we are better than him. All life has value. Even his. We spend the miniscule amount of money is to provide him a decent life within confinement.

Recently a person was found innocent after spending about 20 years in prison for rape and killing two children. He would have been dead if we had capitol punishment in Norway.

Even if he seems lost completely and outside the possibility of rehabilitation, we give everyone a somewhat worthy life.

There are individualistic and collective ways of looking at this. Did society fail these people? Why did they become this way? Or was this destined to happened, because they are in some way inherently evil. If society failed in some way, then they at least deserve the minimum of a reasonably comfortable life in prison.

Because it is always partly a failing of society, true justice is never death.

  • "#### Security implications

Isolation and sandboxing are not the main aims of the project, on the contrary it aims to tightly integrate the container with the host. The container will have complete access to your home, pen drive, and so on, so do not expect it to be highly sandboxed like a plain docker/podman container or a Flatpak."

Does not seem to be an ideal fit, but still interesting

  • Interesting project. Might be a good start

  • Haha, wow. Thanks!

  • As a somewhat Linux noob I just made a folder called ~/Apps and launch them through terminal. Not ideal, but I don't care enough to fix it.

Your suggestion makes me kinda want to fix it though. Doesn't seem like to much work

  • Makes sense, I kinda like it from a distributor standpoint. Flatpak is my favorite though.

  • Not trying to be annoying like a kid here 😅, but why not?

  • Why the hate part of AppImage?

  • I have really started to like AppImage. You just download a single file make it executable and it just works.

I use Cursor for coding, and it has an appimage that replaces itself when it updates.

  • I guess it depends on the ones in power. There is a theoretical possibility that the ones in power acts altruistically for the good of the people.

History however has proven totalitarian countries as brutal regimes, before it inevitablably collapses.

One of the reasons it can't be for the good of the people is that it needs to pay supporters a lot more.

If you are a dictator, you have to constantly bribe your supporters (military, oligarchs etc). If you don't, they will replace you with another dictator that will. So the system will inherently be corrupt and not to the benefit of the people.

Any actions that benefit the people comes from a fear of riots and revolution. In other words it's a delicate balancing act.

Things might be different now and in the future due to more advanced surveillance, personalized propaganda, drones and robotics. Different in that it can be more oppressive than previously.

  • Thanks for the thorough reply. I might share some of your views on borders, but so far more as a thought experiment. I have heard similar takes on borders before, but am not convinced from a practical standpoint. More from an idealistic one.

I am also very strongly on A.
