  • Some photographer took a picture of a politician in the Trump admin using a Signal clone. That signal clone allowed the user to archive chats to a third party.

  • Interesting, thanks for sharing

  • I am not a huge fan of having multiple cards. Its economic suboptimization.

People tell me they get cashback, points and all sorts of advantages.

If you calculate the actual savings in euros, its not that impressive.

If you spend 10 000€ a year with 1% cashback. That's 100€. Which is more than nothing. However you can ignore the whole min/maxing with cards and just make a couple more meals from scratch, bring coffee instead of buying for a couple weeks, buy something used instead of new once or twice etc.

The time spent getting all these points and maximizing is often comprehensive. The credit card bill has to be paid every month, if you miss it once, then the whole thing was a waste of time. So you have to be certain. Checking if everything is paid is thus important.

Also they loyalty part is manipulative and might not actually be beneficial in many cases.

So I stick to my ONE debit card.

  • I love how you can just ask this question on Lemmy, and people give great replies. I do it often, and learn so much.

  • Nice, this seems cool, read a bit about it. I will definitely check it out.

  • We have had this for a long time in Norway I believe. Not sure about Visa and MasterCard, but for our own BankAxept. Most debit cards have both BankAxept and Visa in Norway. So we pay with BankAxept most places by default, except for online stores. BankAxept is either free or extremely cheap compared to Visa.

If the terminal does not connect with the bank, then you just have to sign the receipt.

Terminals also often have batteries, so they even support being without power.

So if bank goes down then payments below 1500NOK (~150 euros) is just a signature on a receipt.

  • Upvoted.

I have a counterpoint to those claiming that paid are better. By using a privacy oriented search engine, then they don't know exactly who you are. In theory just your IP. Maybe fingerprinting.

When paying they know exactly who you are. You have to trust them.

So in one case you can protect yourself, in the other you have to trust them.

Also, Kagi also uses the Russian index Yandex 😑

  • If you are confident you can be a bit embarrassing and people just like you more for it. You are open, unique, a bit quirky and cute. They laugh with you, not at you. At work people lower their guards around you and you get people to deliver quality and get shit done. Being well liked and often right is a killer combo in the engineering world.

Embrace the cringe, so that the cringe just becomes embarrassing, then it becomes good times and team building.

  • Come on man. Share with us, enlighten us. We might be ignorant of something, and you could have valuable insights for us.

This might sound sarcastic, but I promise it is not.

  • There have been ZERO cases in which I have needed it and not gotten it.

You know that it is supposed to be used for bacterial infections and not viruses right?

  • While it is always positive to stop suffering, this does not feel very uplifting. I was not aware of this suffering until now..

  • I wish I was stronger in this regard. Will make and a eat a vegetarian dinner today though.

  • Great development!

Andy being a Trump supporter is a bit more nuanced than claimed.

He did however come with a couple of bootlicking tweets in republicans and the Trump admin. The tweets were in regards of republicans being better at cracking down at big tech than democrats, and some in regards to choice of people.

I don't like it either, but I don't feel confident that he actually supports Trump

  • Hopefully 🤞

  • Thanks, that mortality rate is frighteningly high. Luckily no human to human transmission so far. Hopefully never.

Might be good to have some personal protective equipment in my emergency toolkit, as people would probably go instantly nuts for that if there is a breakout of human to human transmission.

  • You ok?
