  • No! - I'm not a dumbfuck. Mark Zuckerberg once said people who trust him with their personal information are dumbfucks. I have never had an account on any of his platforms, and never will. If something I'm using integrated with his products I'd just stop using it. Just no!

  • Before I even make the attempt, how successful do you think It'd be building epoch on NixOS?

  • Hang in there, I think you're going to be happy with the new Pop-core image.

  • I know right, a real snooze fest! Pop!_OS is so boring I installed it on all my business machines. I've had a good five years of boring old rock-solid performance. With Pop!_OS on seven machines I feel confident that my evenings and weekends will be relaxing, unlike my experiences with many other distros. I get tired, stressed and burned out on operating systems that you are continually fixing and configuring when you're trying to get things done. I'd even go so far as to say Pop!_OS is good for your health. It can lower your blood pressure and has been proven to stimulate your creative flow. The zen-like peace of mind that one gets from using Pop!_OS should be registered with the FDA. It's like an opioid mixed with a cortisol blocker!

  • Yeah, I realized that was something different, but I thought there might be a general issue with Ubuntu because the dev builds on Void. And I was confident it was likely going to be a case of waiting for the pieces to come together better.

  • Looks like we're having some issues for Ubuntu/Pop. https://github.com/lemmy-gtk/lemoa/issues/1

    And

    Compiling openssl v0.10.55
error: failed to run custom build command for `openssl-sys v0.9.90`

I tried the fix suggested - changing realm4 and realm4-components to 0.5.0 in Cargo.toml, but no real difference.

The person who made that issue got it to build in Docker https://github.com/lemmy-gtk/lemoa/pull/2. So it can work in Docker if you use Docker.

  • My favorite Android game has always been, and still is, OSMOS. It used to be in the play store. You can still get it on Android from Hemisphere. There's also iOS, Ipad, Steam (for Linux), OS X and Windows versions. I love this game so much I keep an ancient 7" pad with Marshmallow 6 offline just for it (Because I had the original on it - You don't need an ancient device).

  • Add Matrix as a replacement for email and chat - Just got much better!

  • If you want to tell Reddit people about Fediverse and Lemmy you won't be able to do that on Reddit. Apparently, Reddit is extremely proactive at censoring anything about Fediverse. It's also actively removing any criticism of spez including memes and has a block on any post that contains "fuck spez".

  • Yes, I've used it for years both privately and on business machines.

  • Nice. I'm quite impressed by the quantum tunnel in both security and performance.

  • I was way ahead of most people moving away from Reddit. Spent about two years there, but left after being unjustly censored, limited and manipulated by the Reddit mods. Their actions, decisions and influence are often nothing more than personal vendettas. Haven't logged in there for a couple years now and haven't missed it at all. Are we actually surprised though? It's just another monolithic corporate data leech that abuses member's trust and privacy. The CEO isn't actually worried about the blackouts. He thinks they'll weather the boycotts easily. He thinks most people will come back. It's my hope that it dies, crashes and burns. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zL0yFvkLMQc

As we move into Web3 I hope people wise up and take control of their own personal data and NOT hand control back over to these contemptible and detestable corporate sites. Don't fall for crap like the Metaverse - It's still a corporate attempt at conveniently taking control of your Web3 identity. What is Web3? https://ethereum.org/en/web3/ https://www.freecodecamp.org/news/what-is-web3/

  • Sounds like you might have a firewall issue. Check the status of ufw. sudo ufw status

Mullvad's app is excellent as far as VPN clients go. Normally I won't use them and prefer using a config like @slippers suggested or just use a router. However, Mullvad's app is the exception and works well on all my business machines with Pop!_OS. You should check the killswitch status. Another thing you could try is enabling "Quantum core". One of my staff was having issues and that bypassed whatever was happening. It's super quick as an added benefit.

  • It's taking some effort to get used to after years of using the extension, but the design makes sense. Love the stacks icon. Will there eventually be a shortcut to move a whole stack with keyboard?
