    XMPP may be a bit overwhelming as you need to select a provider and a client. Doesn't require phone number.

    Signal is private and easy to use like whatsapp. Needs phone number to use.

    Telegram is cool but encryption isnt enabled by default, would like to avoid it for this. Cool for public groups.

    Edit: Teleram isnt good at all, dont use it. Look reason in the replies

    In an off topic, I often prefer a open hardware router like raspberry pi router as it gives me control! For me it's safer to use as documentation is open like pfsense and openwrt.

  • I am not saying traffic feature is bad. I am criticizing the little control we have to not contribute to the statistics. Google is a monopoly and decisions are made by them with little control over our devices.

    Traffic feature is cool and for it I would contribute, but just pointing out that google hasn't done it in the best possible way to gather statistics. I wouldn't use traffic feature from google for this one reason.
