  • I have an undue sense of guilt when hearing about some particular war crimes.

I believe in a past life I spoke German. I think I was reincarnated in this way at this point in history to show me the other side of what was done. I’ll do better this time

  • Have you seen the Schlep controversy? Personally, I would be glad if my family PC suddenly couldn’t run Roblox and “sorry kiddo it just doesn’t work anymore”

  • I give away a lot of my money. I give gifts to people I know all throughout the year, I let them use my resources whenever I can. I even hand it out to strangers when I can.

Why am I obligated to do so on this particular day of the year? I do it every other day already.

  • I really agree. I let my partner try out my steam deck (immutable arch instead of Fedora, but ultimately the same experience. Flatpaks and easy updates). They fell in love with it, so I bought a second one for them. It’s been a year now, running it almost exclusively on desktop mode and using it as a Linux desktop.

I haven't even shown them the terminal yet.

  • One of the important things about working out is knowing which muscles you’re actually working out so that you can consciously focus on firing them off with force.

Pushups aren’t for your arms, at least not normal pushups. They work your triceps a bit, and a few of the stabilizer muscles in the forearms and shoulders. But, for the most part, push ups are about your chest. Squeezing your chest inwards should give you your upward momentum, not pushing away from the ground.

It’s also not quite enough to just have a straight back. You ever flex your stomach while looking at a mirror and it kind of auto-straightens your back? That’s the move you’re lookin for, tighten your abdominal muscles as best you can to make it so those are the muscles supporting your lower half, instead of pushing that weight onto your lower spinal column and shoulders

  • Yeah, my eyes instantly locked onto “gnome music” and I went “what’s this about” read the top of the meme, then finally noticed the lil gnome on the left side and went “ohhhhhh”

  • I believe in America the corporation is given the edge. “We didn’t say you’d get 400ml of coke, we said a medium was 400ml.” Is a legally viable argument. Its only false advertising if taking the statement at face value is provably false, a la “Red Bull gives you wings” was changed to “Red bull gives you wiiiings” because the original was provably false, and the second one can be defended as “wiiiings isn’t a real word so it doesn’t mean anything”

  • It’s just “a small cup”

  • They’re not calling Rust unsafe. There is a memory safe mode and a memory unsafe mode in Rust, and this was built in unsafe Rust which allowed for the memory bug to be exploited

  • So… so are they. The new media has not yet been tested for 100 years because they were not invented 100 years ago

  • This is hilarious, but isn’t it a regular meme?

  • I believe the meme I’m referencing is an evolution of that one. I choose to take this as proof that I’m right

  • Good point. Now I’m more sure, it’s the meme template of two dudes walking up to each other and dramatically shaking hands. Not sure what to call it, I’ve seen anime characters and giga-chads and all kinds of stuff in it. Similar to the solidarity meme, but usually in video form. I think it originated on vine?

Edit: I have seen it in picture form, usually a black background with two gigachads or a gigachad and a wojak or wojak-adjacent other guy

  • I also believe that next to the dab is the “solidarity” meme where two buff dudes grab hands

  • Oh my god I feel so stupid. I’ve been arguing back and forth whether it was worth de-atomizing my steam deck to spin up alpaca in docker. I forgot they have a flatpak

  • Currently using obsidian, will check this out ASAP

  • Of GNOME or KDE? Because both of them leave gunk in system files when removed

  • This just isn’t true. There are tons of dependencies that are going to get left all over the place

  • Right. But cleaning up the old files left over from swapping your DE is much easier if you actually have read and write access to those files. When you swap DEs, it’s gonna leave shit behind whether you’re atomic or not. But atomic systems have more barriers to cleaning them up, to prevent the user from accidentally cleaning the wrong things.
