  • Ahh, a power station. I have on of those too for camping and using it at home to let the 3D printer run off-grid on some spare camping solar panels.

For the house I've used a hybrid invertor. It can do all of the same functions but can do much more power, and it can also zero the meter (no import and export, since it automatically tries to compensate for your usage, whole house-wide)

Are there any platforms you use to try and outmate things yet? Or integrate it to track power usage?

  • Nice! Good to see more people trying to run on there own power more.

Do you have/did you check into a hybrid invertor, or do you manual swap the power around?

  • So try and ban 3D printing guns, because that's too dangerous. But still sell guns at wallmarkt to be bought without background checks? I have the feeling something is a little off here...

  • 50% of the people is more stupid than average

  • I believe no company who makes there own hub allows 3rd parties? That's why I have a zigbee dongle in HA

    1. Start investing in (green/cheap) power
    2. Dynamic contracts (off-peak charging)

Pulling oil from the ground is so much less sustainable, and it will only get more expensive

  • Maybe that's an IOS thing or something? WIFIman from Unifi/Ubiquity works wonders for me

  • Good to hear you got it to work. Our chroma cast is wired in, so that might also hide the delay better maybe?

If you use the back button and the app stays, check in home assistant what the entity is saying. For me it ended up being two different app names

  • Switch the TV to the input. And see what the entity says in Home Assistant (either open the entity, oor look in development and then the status)

  • woonkamer_tv is the chromecast name

so change the "remote.woonkamer_tv" and "media_player.woonkamer_tv"

Out current automation has grown, but has been unchanged for a bit. Just posting here in case you have some errors of issues.

  • Add the Displayport! Which doesn't even allow hot-swapping, I keep needing to turn my computer off...

  • I got to be fair, I do agree here. Buy smart switches where possible. I have never had problems with those, while smart bulbs are sometimes inefficient, too dim, flicker at low brightness, and are more expensive.

We have about 12 smart switches and 6 bulbs or so. From Sonoff and Athom.

Another option we have is smart bulb with a smart switch. So you don't turn the power off from the bulb. This is the worst of both worlds.

  • Put in your hat, we are sailing off

  • Why aren't we doing this? I personally haven't found the option to turn into a bat yet

  • It doesn't have a simple "paint" or "paint.net"

  • Seems to have a valve at the wall, they should turn that down so it doesn't do this anymore

  • The hood on top of your stove. Just without the cap around it

  • Yhea this is Europe, as long as you use proper wire (2.5mm2) you can do 112M by the NEN3140 norm. That's much more than the size of our whole house. So impedance wise we are fine

  • Wires are 2.5mm2 and the extender is rated at 3680W, the total max load is a no more than 10W excluding the hood itzelf. So we wel withing the safety specs. No daisy chaining here, plug goes straight to a wall outlet
