  • This is pretty cool tech! However I wonder what is going on with their proofreading - there are typos and double words in the article. How does this slip through in a company like Time?

  • I thought the genre was "Bullet Hell"? So Bullet Heaven is now a new genre? And I wonder if the game called Bullet Heaven will be affected by this?

  • With an extended edition bordering 4 hours, like LotR

  • Lots of great stuff here! Imho, the games with the highest worth from this list are:

    • Prey (amazing game on with a great plot/storytelling. Go in blind if possible.)
    • Heavy Rain & Beyond Two Souls (good stories, heavy storytelling).
    • GRIME (good souls-like, side-scrolling)
    • Rain World (brutal platformer)

Much of the other games here I haven't played, but with this deal maybe it's time... Any further recommendations?

  • I joined the Sith, as I look past what others say about them being evil and self-serving. They are the ones who are willing to delve into darkness and utilize what they find.

It's unfortunate how they are painted, and the methods that have been historically chosen to combat resistance to the Sith.

The Jedi are a bunch of hypocrites, preaching peace while suppressing whoever raise their voice against them.

There will never be peace with the entropy of an entire galaxy in swing, and it's folly to have such a goal. The best thing powers can do is controlled chaos, ensuring the majority is preserved, while the minorities that jeopardize this balance are dealt with swiftly and decisively. We don't have to like it for the action to be optimal.

A little bit of roleplay bleeding through here - don't take me super seriously please :D

  • I don't get how this kind of law goes all the way into law. Yes, there are many tech illiterate old people making laws, and yes there are a lot of powerful tech billionaires lobbying, but still, are there really no roadblocks for them?

This law is unenforceable, and it's going to be abused by authorities.

  • I've been using bangs for a while, and I never thought of this myself! I'll definitely start doing this.

Do you know of a good way to sync/export&import these keywords that does not involve the Firefox account thing?

  • Great list! And just to add a bit:

yt-dlp is indeed insanely powerful, and works for way more than just YouTube, for both audio(music) and video. Supported sites

LocalSend is supported on all platforms, and is perfect for situations where you traditionally use a USB to move files.

  • I find this question quite fascinating: Culturally, there are countries where this gets asked indeed as a form of greeting, not a genuine question.

In Slavic countries, I feel like if you get asked this question, it's generally considered to be of genuine interest, and you'll get a genuine reply. Nothing offensive or informal about saying "Things are bad." or "I feel bad.", or any variant of such.

This might be my perception however, and feel free to correct me. I myself think that if someone asks how I'm doing, I have no need or responsibility to "remain positive/pleasant".

  • This is such a unique gaming experience given by Hideo Kojima, and this clearly shows how much people enjoy it. I'm here considering buying it for my PC too, as it's just THAT good!

  • As I commented in a different thread: Despite the origin being in memes and generally unserious content, and this being a fringe group which few have heard of, the sentiment of potentially creating a place for those who are considered Russian enough to be excluded/segregated from Estonian society, but also do not want to be part of Russia, is understandable.

Nevertheless, a new state is probably never going to be a serious possibility, nor should it be. Estonians still have a way to go in regards to segregation of Russian-Estonians however... I know someone who is Estonian, but had to change their name to mitigate the amount of prejudice they were exposed to, as the name was Russian in origin.

  • What post are you referring to? And could you link us to the relevant discussion(s) that sparked this post in the first place?

A little bit meta, but I'm fascinated by the vote ratio of your post and comments. Makes me wonder if there's anything personal going on here... And from what I can tell here on Lemmy, I perceive you as a level-headed person.

  • Right, honestly forgot about that. Not something I use personally, but hear a lot of buzz about. Anyhow, could a good thing be then to support companies like Fairphone, who sells their phones with e/OS/ already installed? I'll try and recommend it to my friends, if that is the case.

  • Will other custom ROMs still allow for sideloading? Like PostmarketOS, e/OS/, LineageOS etc.?

  • His Japan & family vlogs are also really chill - he has become much more chill and proper. If you remember him from when he got big on YouTube 10 - 15 years ago, he was a completely different person!

  • I'm sorry that you had to go through that, and I must emphasize that I do not wish to "let" anyone be exposed to this. However, I remain unconvinced that it's "more common than I think". The amount of sexual assault that women are exposed to is unfortunately far, far more common, and a bigger problem that should take precedence in being dealt with.

  • Don't take my word for it; look it up. But here, I'll save you some time by spending my own:

    https://worldmetrics.org/false-rape-allegations-statistics/

    https://www.statista.com/statistics/191137/reported-forcible-rape-cases-in-the-usa-since-1990/

    https://www.cdc.gov/nisvs/media/pdfs/sexualviolence-brief.pdf

Say out of 140 000 reports of rape in one year, 4% are false. That leaves us with 5600 false accusations. And according to the survey shown by CDC, there's an estimated 1.4 million women raped in 12 months.

  • Here: https://www.cdc.gov/nisvs/media/pdfs/sexualviolence-brief.pdf

Men have so much less reason to fear compared to women. This is not saying they have nothing to fear, but the measures taken by uber is an attempt to protect those who are MUCH more prone to sexual assault and harassment.

The fear of accusations is not covered in this survey, nevertheless, if men feel fearful of accusations, imagine what women feel when they fear actually being sexually assaulted.
