  • So I own a 350, I do need it for work though lol, I haul things on an almost daily basis. Anyways, these trucks are usually governed at 96mph. It’s diesel so I get pretty good mileage on the highway, 400+ mi per tank. I do have to fill up about once a week though. Driving cross country, AZ-AL, I only had to fill up 4x.

  • So I’d like to chime in here as someone who lives in a low income food desert. The food desert isn’t because of theft. In fact, many chains have tried to open up here over the decades. The city government is so hostile towards them though, that these stores don’t even get to the opening stages. The city wants to charge these stores exorbitant fees for no reason. Charge 10x as much for electricity than the town with a smaller population 15minutes away. Is this everywhere, no, but it is in more places than you’d think.

    Let me guess, your response to that would be “Well just vote those people out! It’s your fault for keeping them in there!” And my response to that is, vote them out and replace them with who? No one has run against these people since they were first elected into office in the 1960’s. Oh sure we’ve tried to get people to turn against them, but they’ve stacked the system so it’s damn near impossible. The only thing we can do is wait until they die, which doesn’t seem to be any time soon.

    You remind me of this guy I’ve debated with who had this outlandish claim that “If CEO’s are paid less, then they’d work less.” But there’s no actual proof to that, and trust me, he looked. He then went on to say he’d rather be paid in company stock than cash. Like he’d legit forego minimum wage to be paid in 100% stock.

    So I’m going to say the same thing to you that I’ve said to him. You’ve been all up and down this thread blaming theft as the reason why food deserts are a thing, can you provide nonbiased studies proving that?

  • Uh so just an fyi, stretch marks alone aren’t an indicator of pregnancy. There are plenty of women out there that either don’t have stretch marks and have been pregnant, or do have stretch marks and have never been pregnant. I say this as someone who is pregnant with their 3rd child and doesn’t have stretch marks.

  • I mean, missionaries. My sister was one for over a decade and during those years she owned a backpack with some clothes and toiletries and that was all. She received monetary donations that she used to travel, stayed with families in the towns she visited, etc.

    You’re not going to see that in the US (especially the Deep South) or really any developed nation because churches are already established. But you will see it often in developing nations where the “message needs to be spread”.

    My sister is annoying as hell with a holier than thou attitude. Or at least to me because every time I try to talk to her the conversation somehow turns to god and after also being raised as a devout Christian, fuck that bullshit.

    And remember the Deep South has 2 denominations, evangelical and baptist, and both of those are fucking selfish fire and brimstone denominations.

    Idk how long you were on there, but I was there for about 13yrs. and the “inside jokes” can be a little overwhelming at times. The Jesus Ads were the “He Gets Us” ads everywhere, if you never saw one then you must have used a client that didn’t have ads like Apollo, or paid for no ads through other clients.

    As for the stories I’m talking if about, they all happened over a decade ago. You’d have to specifically search for them nowadays because like I said, they never get mentioned in those “Reddit history” askreddit threads anymore. All the stories mentioned nowadays have happened in the last couple years. IIRC, even poop knife is only like 6 or 7 years old.

    Also I’m calling them stories because idk what else to call them. Some are threads, others are comments.

    Oh shit, Streetlamp leMoose was another one I forgot about. Damn, there were so many greats that have been lost to time. The Search and Rescue series on no sleep. Talking about it is bringing up more and more memories.

  • That’s really all you can do. There’s no one answer to raising a child because no child is the same. And tbh I stayed away from the parenting blogs because they always made me feel less than even before I gave birth. You’re not going to get everything right on the first try.

    Spanish Reddit is another classic that never gets mentioned. There’s a slew of them if you look at the old “What’s something people on Reddit should know about Reddit” askreddits.

  • I’m 12+4. The first trimester has been horrendous for me this pregnancy. I didn’t find out I was pregnant until the second trimester for my other pregnancies. Good lick! I hope the 2nd and 3rd are easier for you!

    Word of advice: Don’t listen to anyone’s advice about raising your kid lol. Everyone will tell you different things and most of it will be contradictory to the last thing someone said.

  • I’m currently pregnant and basically bedridden because I’m so sick and severely hurt my back sneezing a couple weeks ago. My 4yo comes up to me and says “Mommy, I just want to cut that baby out so you can feel better! Baby! Stop making my mommy sick!” Super cute, but also kinda wtf lmao.
