  • There aren't many Jewish people here so by proxy I've never seen antisemitism in person. I'm not well-placed to talk at all.

    That said, it's hard not to wonder whether the term antisemitism isn't being used abusively...

  • I honestly haven't watched a lot of non-dubbed content in a while, considering my mom moved in with me and she doesn't tolerate other languages.

    But my ears aren't very sharp, so I can't tell what's a good mix. I'll be honest with you, I may own a decent pair wired earbuds, unless it's classical music, I can't hear much difference between music qualities.

    Bad color or motion handling on a TV, though, that's an instant cringe for me.

  • Tbh if you only have the budget for one mix, it should be the mainstream one for 90% of viewers. If the producers wanna be artsy, go ahead, include an artsy mix with the BluRay or something.

    Imagine if they did something as extreme as they do to movies with music. You basically only hear the bass and the lyrics are incomprehensible unless you have an expensive sound system? Sheesh.

    By the way, normal people like me don't even know what a compressor is. To me, even the hassle of having a speaker outside of my TV isn't worth it. Most people are like this.

  • That should be optional. I don't wish to be "immersed". I just wanna see the story. Sure, make the "extreme" experience a possibility for those with a taste for the subtle things in the art or whatever, but don't push it onto all of us.

    Because ANYTIME there are sounds that are way louder than dialogues, of course I'm gonna reach for the remote, because holy shit.

    Plus, that idea of dynamic range is what allows ads to be so damn loud compared to everything else.

  • Imma be honest, I don't see why the explosion should be louder than speech. I can see the boom; I can tell that it's an explosion. It doesn't need to be reinforced to be through volume.

  • Asterisk: there is such a thing as "minimum wage for tipped workers", which is lower than the normal minimum wage. At least in some provinces.

    For instance, in Quebec, the normal minimum wage is $16.10 per hour, but for tipped workers, it's $12.90$.

    And yes, my reaction to this is also "what the fuck".

  • I hate audio dynamic range. And i also hate how they don't ensure dialogue is audible over other noises unless it's dubbed.

    This last one is so bad that I basically don't watch any American content in the original language anymore, because the French dub has clear voices and doesn't force me to use subtitles. So ridiculous.

  • And I guess they really care about cost too, because if they wanted it as easy as possible, it would have a treadmill and a box with a 360° barcode scanner or something and the person could be spared from the whole bagging area thing.

    But yeah, that simplification and accessibility ends up being what alienates me because of how significant it is. Hopefully there are enough of us that they'll keep some cashiers around.

  • I hate how self-checkout treats me like a child and speaks and prompts me a zillion times for things I don't want. How many bags do you want to buy? None, because I have mine like 90% of people, geez. How about a donation? Unexpected item in bagging area. TAKE YOUR RECEIPT. Nooooo

    And it even SPEAKS. LOUDLY. It burns through ALL my patience within seconds.

    If it just let me scan my stuff having me tap on a touchscreen, and then just let me stay the payment machine in a single touch, and it were silent ... I might tolerate it. Otherwise, get back, demon.

  • The only times when I've seen anyone complain about the length of lines were times when it was clear staffing was very much insufficient. Line all the way to the back of the supermarket and literally 2 cashiers total.

  • Then boneless shouldn't be allowed to be on the packaging. Largely de-boned. 99% bone-free. Those would be acceptable.

    But boneless implies you scan the items and reject any and all pieces that would still have a bone in them.

    I hate this.

  • Official EXP and drop rates were unbearable. Even reaching job 2 was an accomplishment lol.

    PvP... Never really managed to get into it. It took a specific build and a LOT of rare equipment to even get your foot into the door. Thara Frog Card and Marc Card and whatnot. Without those "basics" which were actually really hard to find, you'd die super fast.

    Plus consumables... To do a single WoE you'd possibly burn through hundreds of potions.

    It took INVESTMENT.
