  • How's this?

Also, in the first picture the walker was blown off because the balloons were tied down. In this picture, the balloons are moving with the wind, so the walker won't be blown off so easily.

That's another thing about being up in a balloon that surprises first-timers, there's no wind, and it's very quiet, when the burner isn't burning.

  • New Mexico

  • They occasionally do bump off each other, usually during mass ascent at the Balloon Fiesta.

Those are houses. About 2500 sq. ft., two floors, no basement.

It's the biggest park in the neighborhood, mostly grass, plus a dog run area, and a small playground. The three smaller parks get many more visitors than this one. It's a waste of space and water, IMO, because people don't use it very much. Maybe there just aren't many kids near it?

I dunno if you can find the video online, but many years ago, when I was on a balloon crew, a balloon (not "my" balloon) was up when it was too windy, and the envelope collapsed partway, the throat, where the fire shoots up, was closed, and the balloon was falling. Near the end, the pilot in desperation, burned, and snapped half of the cables holding the basket. The basket tipped, and they all fell to their death. So, yeah, like any transportation method, there are dangers.

  • If they had asked, the answer would have been "Yes. Yes, we should."

  • My guess is skydiving.

    Or, tightrope walking?

  • I saw you like hot air balloons...

  • I feel like we've been seeing AI coding doing a shit job at big corporations, i.e. Microsoft. My expectation is that the harder Meta leans into AI, the worse their products will get, and they'll start begging their employees to come back--and I hope they get the finger in response.

  • The biggest clue was when they started referring to us as a "resource". We're just another input on their spreadsheet.

  • From my walk this morning. Buncha crazy mofos up there.

  • No, because people's morals are their own.

  • Life was a lot easier, before we made it so easy.

  • No one outside of Africa will pay attention to this till it starts taking large numbers in Europe.

  • We're going to need to double Bezo's taxes to pay for this.

  • Makes sense, lots of open land and lots of sun. Just don't tell MAGAs.

  • The landscaping company my HOA contracts with is having trouble finding people to do the work, after, of course, many of their employees were rounded up.

My idiot neighbors are whining about how their yards look like shit, because the landscapers aren't coming around once a week, like they used to. The same idiot neighbors who urge everyone to "vote red" and are absolutely certain that only "illegal" immigrants are being "deported".

  • We all could if we started early enough. I didn't get a language class option until high school, and by then it was almost too late. Americans should be taught English and Spanish in school from the first day of kindergarten. But, for now that's a pipe dream, American public schools are a complete disaster at the moment.

  • If people want me to pay more billions, then let’s have that debate.

Nonsense. He's not open to debating this. Not at all, not fairly. If it were one person, one vote, they'd all lose, and they know it.
