  • It's almost as this is done in a manner to distract from the hidden intention and doing it at Twitter was a test that confirmed its effectiveness. What a weird but definitely not happening possibility. Look over there! 👉 It's a trans immigrant that wants your dogs and women's gold medals!!

  • I disagree with the "ah ok" part

  • He would not survive something that stupid.

  • United States of Gulf & Mexico America

  • Same. Sometimes I need to force myself to get in. Within secs, I wonder why I had to override my resistance, and if I will do it again tomorrow. I will do it again tomorrow.

  • Imagine being 6 years old and your mother hugging you while crying. You have no electricity. It's night time. Artillery shell explosions followed by the crumbling buildings and injured crying in pain are the only break you get from your mother's sounds of sobbing. They're destroying your entire block, but what you feel is terror. You can look out a window and see flashes. You don't even know what politics or weapons of mass destruction. You're just there scared until you die. You wonder what you did for this to happen. Now imagine hundreds of that same experience per night.

That never makes it into the news. I would love to see people's responses. Show the child and mother live. Then, people are randomly asked, "Push button to kill this person immediately or you will be put in jail and shamed for life." Let's see how they react to that guilt for eternity.

There's a quote from Game of Thrones that I think of often. The setting is that 3 brutal high-class leaders have to decide which one of them will die as punishment. They start getting nervous, so Tyrion says:

It always seems a bit abstract, doesn't it, other people dying?

    I find it validating.

  • I feeeeeel....I ☝FEELLLLLL☝ (pls don't get mad at me) like when I tell people ahead of time of my neurodivergence, they take it as me coming up with an excuse to be rude in the future.

  • what is a chain mail bag used for and why use it over a simple cloth/fabric bag?

  • Ok, it's your moment. Let's hear it all. Dump it. Why do you hate it?

  • What? It said one salad bowl, so I got one salad bowl.

  • Poor people would have it worse because basic necessities aren't (1) optional and (2) not priced dependent on income. The first certain amount of income for everyone must be spent on staying alive (food, medicine, water, etc.) and having somewhere to exist (rent/mortgage). Whatever is left over can be spent on high quality of those, hobbies, and luxuries. That means that the lowest earners spend their life merely surviving with no joy or options. They just try to exist until they can't. Higher earners can afford to consume higher quality basic necessities and have options (e.g. beef, organic, etc.). The even higher earners can spend their extra income on enjoying hobbies and luxuries. Beyond that, people can spend their money on making more money and directing the economy (aka investments).

By charging a flat rate, poorer earners would be getting taxed almost exclusively on surviving. The highest earners would be getting taxed very little on surviving, so they would have a lot more money left over to afford luxuries and making more money. Because of this, most liberal economies use a progressive tax code (i.e. higher tax rates on higher income brackets). It allows people to survive while limiting the runaway effect from the highest earners making money exponentially. This would then destroy the economy because no one would be able to afford anything and the economy would halt. I mean, it's still happening, but not as bad as if it were a flat tax rate.

What I think happens is that the rich control the levers and the poor are the masses. People that write tax codes have to make sure to balance the two. If it tips too much one way or another, we have problems. Too in favor of the rich (e.g. flat tax rate) and there would either be an economic depression or the masses revolt. Too in favor of the masses, and the rich form a coup or run with their money to another country and develop the economy there.

  • actions >> words

Edit: I'd rather a guy that loves Trump, but is accepting in person and spends their time volunteering on the weekend, than a self-proclaimed leftist that spends their time criticizing everyone while not doing shit about anything, and using their politics to justify their stealing habit. The former can be reasoned with. The latter is just using leftism as an excuse.

  • Imagine what they are thinking: being allowed to go back to their homes wondering if their homes even exists. Knowing that at any moment, they could be bombed and massacred again. Will they have communities? Will their friends return or are they even still alive? Can they get comfortable or should they be ready to evacuate for their lives again? Should they try rebuilding or make it through the day with bare necessities? Should they bother building social relationships or prepare for the surprise loss?

Palestinian culture must be unique. Many peoples have gone through severe hardships. There have been wars and genocides. However, the Palestinians have been going through it for decades on their own land merely for being there. There are generations of Palestinians that only know what it's like to be the constant target of a decisively powerful and unapologetic violently reactive state that imprisons them inside walls and either destroys or takes their homes. They can only exist how they're allowed to exist as the involuntarily designated sacrificial target of repressed anger from the justified pain of another people, always branded as a threatening villain by the very same people that punish you for existing, you can't do anything but let time go by.

  • Did those codes really work?

  • And it's way too much charge for the quality of the meat and produce. They give ground pork at beef steak prices and the produce isn't as carefully selected as I would have picked.

  • Not every home in countries with safe tap water have safe tap water at home

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks, and you're welcome!
