  • Please stop trying to build infrastructure software if you don't know what you're doing. Anyone using this probably puts their server at risk.

  • The thing is people using this stuff are doing harm to the planet and society. So leaving them alone is not going to happen.

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "trade in". If you're asking how to get a new one, you should get a notification via email shortly before your current license expires. Alternatively you can request a new one every time and they will send it to you after expiry of the current one. That's how it worked the last time I did it anyways.

  • No, you need to get a new one every year

  • With Portainer you can do GitOps and have something like Dependabot notify you of updates. I don't believe, Portainer offers completely unattended container updates.

If you want it automated, use one of the recent Watchtower forks. It's not recommended as automated updates may break things or introduce malware through compromised accounts, however it has worked pretty well for my personal stuff. I wouldn't recommend it for business use.

  • Actually air is buoyant too, and water has much higher resistance. I still don't know what the answer is, and I'm guessing "it depends", like so often.

  • The spy

  • It also has a Windows artifact and in any case one could still compare it to the official software, no matter where this runs. I'm not happy with the Sony app so this might be a better alternative.

  • Is it better than the official streaming software?

  • It's pretty funny how things have turned out. 20 years ago (and now, really) we had rootkits as DRM, now we've got rootkits as game cracks.

  • A custom driver emulates the environment of an already activated token to the DRM. It's comparable to root hiding techniques on Android.

  • You're hilarious. I haven't downvoted you, others are reading these threads as well.

Talking about security... Have you heard of intrusion detection, process isolation, or principle of least privilege?

  • Thank god

  • I mean I do this stuff for a living but okay go off king

  • lol the whole internet better shut down right? Too vulnerable

  • The difference is that my friends get a lot of value out of my server, as they don't need to use any technology they're unfamiliar with.

  • I'd rather just not use it at that point

  • What a terrible day to be literate

  • Kinda defeats the purpose of a media server built to be used by multiple people
