Over at https://join-lemmy.org/ , when someone clicked on "Join a Server", they are presented with a list of instances, it's not that obvious that these are cross-accessible (yes, the homepage mentioned it, but not here), and people are bound to look for one with the most users.
Like the posters before me, I also have different username/nicknames for every different sites/services. Sometimes I use random word generators (smash two words together), or just random word (which TIL means "copying" in Welsh)
Metaverse is an idea and concept. It is not Facebook, it is not owned by Zuckerburg. It can be made by other people. There are many projects claiming to be a metaverse, they are not, none of them including Facebook's are metaverse.
Sometimes, for my own internal solo projects, I give my variations and functions wacky names because I was bored, I wonder if that's the same for whoever named those.
