Lol yeah, felt bad unsubbing from all the places I've spent a decade or longer, but is what it is.
I'm not nuking it, but I just unsubbed from everything, deleted the Boost shortcut, and I'll be re-running the delete suite again tonight to hopefully finish up the re-writes.
I had about 5k comments over the same time, but I loved being in game threads for like 6 different sports lmao. So just a shit ton of throw away comments about specific plays and actions.
Yeah, directions for it from that linked comment want you to edit code; I 1) don't think I'm proficient enough to be doing that; 2) think it needs an account with codepen? I have no pencil/edit button that he's referencing
and just a straight replacement of the webaddress in the ' ' results in an error
I'm a current mod of r/motocross (30k subs) and I have the magazine here at Motocross@kbin.social. It's not affiliated, but the other (active) mod is likely leaving Reddit as well, no word on landing zone though. It'll be a dead modded sub likely by tomorrow once I and the other guy leave.
I also created ElderScrollsOnline@kbin.social but I wasn't affiliated with the sub reddit beyond being a long-time user.
I also have the @fedia.io versions because I wasn't sure which instance I'd be on. Still not sure, but I imagine the kbin instance will hold the magazines and I'll just figure out which instance I'm going to mod from long-term. If that's even possible.
I feel like I'm seeing way less posts moving through Hot. I'll have articles from 13+ hours among my feed, where that used to not happen. A 6-7 hour gap would fully refresh the feed just about, whereas now if might be closer to 2/3s new.
Won't have much to compare to now, account wipe starts tonight.
I think it's more just the stance beehaw has in general. They don't want to federate with the Nazi instance, or anyone that wants to do with them. Same way people don't want to hang out with racists, or people who also hang out with racists.
I was under the impression that was how it was supposed to function; boosts were the upvote and downvote is the downvote, but boosts were weighted more heavily? Or something? Lmao it seems unnecessarily complicated, just stick with up or down.
It's an alright way to see if someone is commenting on good-faith or not. Anytime I saw someone saying highly controversial things, I'd check their account to see if they were just downvote collecting or actually held the view. It's harder to do that now; my account says I'm at like...-30 something, on a single comment that went beyond a few people's sensibilities. I could have put an /s on it but that defeats the purpose.
But anyone that looks at my profile now to make the "good faith" check will see me at -30, despite other contributions.
It is dumb how people worry about the number, but it does have other uses besides just a popularity indicator.
I think this is what a lot of people are missing here. Lot of people asking for specific content, but very few are willing to make it.
Like I used to do some amateur in-depth looks at my college basketball team, but stopped due to just general life stuff and that is would get drowned out by memes about bar graphs. Now, though, there is an audience hungry for it, and it may be something I get back into a little bit.
I agree. It's just hard to do that to people I've been in a community with for 10+ years. Reddit won't even notice that sub getting deaded, but the users will. The only nodding we had to do was repost bots and very rare racist stuff (really not even relevant to anything either lol)
I'm waiting to do it because I want to leave no trace, and any closed subs are unable to have comments changed. Also, waiting til the last minute because I'm not trying to dead mod one of my subs; I hate Reddit, buts it's a smallish sub (30k) and I don't want to just leave it. Only two of the five mods are active, and he's thinking of leaving as well, so I guess we're gonna have to mod search?? At least get one person in and then dip.
I already got vote massacred cause I made a joke about displaying Nazi logos being illegal, since that neighborhood in...Chicago? outlawed the trans flag(where I was clearly on the right side) and people assumed I was making an actual, factual argument for the nazis. It's necessary sometimes lol
