Hi I'm Aster, I'm an autistic transmasc demiboy. I like technology, art, and science. I'm also into the furry fandom. I mainly prefer he/him and ze/zir pronouns, but they/them is also acceptable. Also I am a femboy.

  • There aren't really any others though, every browser these days is made by a company with corporate interests in mind, either their own, or someone paying them.

  • You should link them so more people can find them easily.

  • Because Browsers are corporate-built garbage which are designed with corporate interests in mind, same reason they choose to send good fingerprinting canvas data instead of sending randomized garbage every new session.

  • Don't really know what they're talking about. Software has existed as an industry longer than it was a community. And the industry pushed back hard on the idea of software freedom in the early days.

  • People really need to bring up the idea of fake IDs when talking about this age verification crap. Not like something some people will do, but something you all should do. They want you to feel iffy about giving out fake credentials and they want people to use real names online. This idiot said as much. Don't comply with them, lie to them.

  • You all need to talk about Fake IDs way more when this subject is brought up, the silence around that subject is unacceptable. Discord and friends really want us to be silent when it comes to the subject of people making fake IDs or faking facial scans. Because it means people might be discouraged from trying it or never even think of trying it at all.

Being silent will artificially boost compliance and that's horrible for privacy.

  • I do not think this analogy is comparable considering you are advocating for mass surveillance of people, not an increase of security. The existence of lockpicking is not a threat to locks or door locking because it is a complex skill.

The existence of fake IDs is an existential thread to ID verification systems which is why talk of it is artificially avoided or suppressed, because it is not hard for someone with a Printer, Photoshop, or just use AI to fake an ID or picture of "themselves" to pass it. Might be a crime in some places but it isn't anymore difficult. And will be done at much larger scales than lockpicking if people realize and are encouraged to do so.

  • This will also do little to stop criminals or underage users because as much as people have artificially avoided the topic of it, fake IDs are still a thing.

  • They don't know that fake IDs exist, something people have been surprisingly silent about when it comes to the whole ID verification saga.

  • Wow it's like no one has heard of Fake IDs. Despite the fact that Facebook moms would finger wag you for suggesting their existence, they are not a real barrier. Especially for actual criminals.

  • That's a pro in my book considering I had harassment directed my way by a feddit admin.

  • Wow... that... I have no words for that. That is beyond despicable. I had a feeling things were bad when I saw the governance thread but that's way way worse than I thought.

  • It came from an instance called chatgptjailbreak.tech. Seems like my instance defederated them.

  • First thing I would do if I got that thing would be to wipe it and install SteamOS on it for the best user experience. Way better and faster than whatever garbage micro$oft put on it.

  • If dying is your thing I guess...

  • It's okay. But it would be better if it didn't recognize touch as a mouse input. When I booted into Ubuntu once it worked flawlessly on the Desktop touch input working distinctly from mouse input. on KDE touches are mouse input which is annoying and uncomfortable.

  • I'm so glad I quit Facebook long ago and also started using uBlock Origin.

  • I wish KDE worked well on Touch screens. It seems to really fail at that. Don't tell me it's X11. X11 on Gnome doesn't think my touches are a mouse. KDE thinks it is though.

  • Tearing them limb from limb with horses (or I guess these days they'd use cars) is more brutal though and could be made to go longer and be more painful. Crucifixion is also pretty horrible. There are way worse methods out there than the guillotine, even in your scenario of doing multiple people at a time. Methods designed to be slow and torturous by nature.
