  • Digg’s open beta shuts down after just two months, blaming AI bot spam

  • There were entire communities popping up dedicated to SEO and advertising. A lot of the spam would happen during the US night time, so they’d have to wake up every morning to sweeping away all the crap. Really curious on how they intend to handle the bots.

  • The clashing ideologies makes it hard to gain traction for the fediverse. Since no one ever agrees on things, it ironically turns into the politics people complain about with the republicans vs democrats always being at a stalemate.

  • It’s interesting hearing “There’s nothing on Digg it’s dead, fediverse is more active” because when I joined Lemmy people were using the same comparison of reddit vs the fediverse. Things take time to build and they are still in beta. Lemmy is way more active and settled than when I first joined (hell I originally joined kbin instead). It’s good to have competition. I am active on both and I believe they will have different demographics.

  • What happened to Musicals since the 80-90 era? I enjoyed Fiddler on the Roof Dr Zhivago just kind of seem no one cares anymore. Except Walk The Line. But not originals.

    Almost every tv show now has a musical episode somehow as well. Star Trek Strange new worlds comes to mind.

    Musicals have changed and evolved like every of form of visual medium. You also have to account for the general decline of movies. It’s the same reason there are far fewer comedies and they have moved to television. Sadly the block buster is what is keeping the movie industry alive atm.

  • Honestly most of these websites turn a single quote into a whole article. It’s rarely worth the click for websites that try to slam ads at you, block you from viewing if you are blocking them, or require a subscription.

  • I think the argument was that having it be linear allowed for better puzzles since you’d progressively need more items per dungeon. I think they kept the freedom more on the handheld games than the main 3D ones. If memory serves, you could do most of the dark world dungeons in any order, in A Link to the Past as well as a Link Between Worlds. Echoes of Wisdom recently also gave some ability to choose dungeons. I’m curious what the future holds post TotK.

  • I actually did proofread a few times. By now I think I’ve had to admit to myself that I may have mild dyslexia, and should see about getting diagnosed. I usually have to read through something multiple times, and even then, typos will remain. I do appreciate you pointing it out though! I’ve updated the title.

  • I think the original game brought a printed map for you to fill in, plus some information in the manual. All of which obvious those of is who have emulated would not have.
