  • Its trickle-down tax evasion. When I see our politicians avoiding paying millions in taxes and getting away with it, I wonder why should I contribute. I see Apple, Amazon and the tech companies who make a fortune in my country get away with sending the profits to the Cayman islands. All the super markets having a zero-tax liability, so more of the burden falls onto me, I figure maybe I should get an accountant who can help me too.

  • This is interesting. I just read about the residential schools in Canada off the back of your comment. Nuts. Interestingly, in FIL's notes he suggests a few times that the bodies belonged to people from an often maligned and persecuted ethic group in the UK. He doesn't say why he thinks they were members of that group but mentions it a few times in his notes.

  • Nope. I know that the family who lived opposite the site are still alive. They've been in the local papers protecting their non-green green-space from being built on. I've seen new stories going back to the 90s with them in. They've organised petitions, got councillors invovled etc.

    FIL thought that his old boss was involved organised crime, so I agree with you on not risking my family's safety to alleviate my dead FIL's guilt.
