  • For sure. That seems to be what the person she's responding to is saying - it's "natural" for people to dislike Israel because of them... y'know... committing genocide.

But that's way too optimistic. It is not natural (for everyone) because they still have lots of support. Especially from foreign governments, if only a minority of the people.

But, at the same time, Israel is failing at propaganda I think in part because their position is indefensible. They are openly committing genocide. Their leaders routinely go on record saying extremely mask-off things about intending to commit genocide. The IDF brutalizes defenseless people on the regular and destroys access to basic necessities to cause maximum suffering to normal people who just want to live their lives. Their propagandists have a really hard job, but they're super well-funded and are still failing.

  • This is what I ended up doing, and it works great. I knew about aliases, but didn't really use them at all - I didn't know about bash functions though.

So now I have a few functions in .bashrc for short things and am just aliasing shell scripts for easy access to more complex tbings I don't want cluttering the file

  • I think that's her point - they're trying REALLY hard and failing to win hearts and minds. I think she's not making any sort of moral claim here, just talking about the propaganda being so bad.

Like, just look at the fucking tik toks of IDF kids dancing or whatever. This is official Israeli-sanctioned propaganda and they just make themselves look horrible, which they are, but propaganda should try to make them not seem horrible.

It's not a very insightful tweet, but it's contra.

  • But... but... the DOW

  • Oooh ty that makes a lot of sense. I was unaware of that functionality.

  • This should be the next step for me. When you do aliased commands, can they take arguments? Like to download a playlist with yt-dlp, could i do download-playlist [URL]?

  • A guy who incels like to watch because he is one. Hikikomori/LDR type who stays in his room filled with trash and roaches and streams. Incels and other rightwingers listen to his political opinions because... yeah idk.

  • It just like... doesn't really matter? Especially if you're browsing all - then you just see stuff from everywhere federated. That's basically how I use lemmy. I don't only look at stuff from one instance

  • .ml doesn't federate with nsfw instances, so All is clean. There's probably other instances with a similar policy

  • Well... you see... 25% of the game is 100% human made!

  • For the unaware, they do this for livestock shows. If you can get your cow's coat long (by cold exposure, ideally - makes them fluffy), you can shape the hair to give them the appearance of better conformation.

That can mean the illusion of a straighter back (basically by giving them like an eraser haircut along the back), more width in whatever areas might be lacking, a more balanced physique, etc.

It's a whole thing and if you go to a livestock show you'll see people meticulously grooming their cows like this

  • If that's what's holding you back, don't worry. Thai people are very chill and kind. Also the economy is very dependent on tourism, so dealing with westerners is part of that - it's something people are used to for better and for worse. And, the US has not fucked Thailand over anywhere near as much as the surrounding countries (vietnam & cambodia, mostly, but even those folks are extremely gracious). People will appreciate you if you are kind, polite, and try to follow local customs.

  • Thai food in Thailand is nowhere near as spicy as "Thai Spicy" or even "Hot" Thai food in the states, in my experience. Some places I went it approaches or slightly exceeds "Hot", but on the whole I think the spiciness of Thai food is way overblown.

In my experience the spiciness levels are 1, 2, and 3 meaning 1 - 3 dried or fresh birdseye (or similar) red chilis. It's pretty standardized and 3 is a hot but still pleasant level of spiciness. Thai people aren't competing to see who can light their asshole on fire, they just want good food.

  • That's why most people I know got the switch. They got it in spite of bad performance to play older 3rd party games on a portable, social format. Can play with friends, on the bus, on the couch. Don't really need better specs to do that. Even hardcore gamers may own a switch to do that - the appeal and accessibility is very broad.

The nintendo games are largely just a bonus, imo. They're very expensive and I personally wouldn't seek them out if I didn't also own a switch. If I had kids or was a kid that'd be a different story, probably. The modern legend of zelda games, mario kart, and super smash were great though.

A bunch of the other nintendo titles were fun, but many of them feel weirdly like mobile games with way more content or something to me - hard to explain, but they don't feel like $60 or $70 games (to me). Something to do with the repetitive gameplay loops, visual style, and design built around levels rather than exploration/open world. Animal crossing 100% feels like less of a game than the gamecube version did - more repetitive, basically the same appearance, feels less complex.

  • The value proposition just isn't there. Much more expensive for better performance and... pokemon pokopia? There aren't any games really taking advantage of that increased performance that I am aware of. My switch 1 still works. I'd like better performance, but not for $500
