  • Berlin has great public transport, and it's not bad for a pedestrian either. I think the cycling infrastructure could use a bit of work from the bits I've seen, and there are way too many cars.

I'm assuming the people complaining about this proposal are the same people who complain about similar ones in cities around the world: people who don't fucking live in the city anyway.

  • I'm an ambivert. I'm also not particularly into watching a good percentage of sports, but I'll pretty much go to anything if a friend asks if I want to join them going to an event or even just watch it with them somewhere.

Doesn't really just apply to sports either, up for anything really: gigs, art exhibitions, hikes, cinema, visiting a random town for some reason, you name it.

Firstly, I can't exactly knock something until I've given it a good go, but more importantly for me, it's time I get to spend with one/some of my mates and might result in some good memories. Reminder that introversion is not the same thing as social anxiety, introverts generally also like to hang out with their friends.

Plus I also like photography, so random days out are a good way to get pictures you wouldn't otherwise.

  • LW makes an effort to block posting from public VPNs because it also has open registration, and there's not really much else that can be done to prevent a particularly belligerent spammer/troll from just repeatedly registering accounts. This was put in place after a particularly bad spate of it.

I'm not especially pleased about it, but I understand why it's happened

  • You only need two charts to tell you why

Those charts kinda look more or less the same in every country

Also bear in mind it gets much worse after 2020

  • I can't believe the person that posted this had never heard of speakers

  • Or maybe an Andgasm for the logically inclined

  • Yeah that's what I meant with hand under

But cheers for the artisanal illustration, very appreciated

  • Yeah, how else would you hold it if you're walking without a bag? Especially if you've got something in the other hand

    I guess hand under, perhaps

Holding it out in front with both hands feels way more precarious to me for some reason I can't put my finger on

  • The non/semi-professional mercenaries have to start somewhere before they get promoted to the big leagues.

  • Wait so the idea is you get a load of burnt bread on your skewer with what you're actually cooking?

I worry for the future of cuisine

  • No, let's not work on fixing the fact that it's recently reached £250,000 as the typical cost to raise a kid to adulthood today. That thing that means many people don't, and possibly never will, financially have the option to.

Then there's the people who could financially make it work, but can see the current trajectory we're on as all but guaranteeing a life of suffering for a kid, despite otherwise wanting one.

Let's kick all those people whilst they're down

  • I'm all for massive expansion of public transport, and I agree EVs should constitute a pretty small part of the ideal transport mix.

However, the vast majority of negative sentiment around EVs you see in the press is not coming from a place of "let's do public transport instead", it's coming from the oil industry wanting people to stay hooked on their product. EVs categorically free consumers significantly from oil companies

That's what my point was really: the messaging is different because of that dynamic, a dealer wanting to keep people hooked versus a dealer wanting to hook new customers

  • Okay I guess finite, disposable resources, then

You can recycle batteries, you can't use petrol twice

  • Black market silicone

That's a little bit out of his standard wheelhouse

I'm guessing just the bathroom sealant or insulation use cases, he might struggle to not get the video demonetised with the other main one

  • lol

  • I want you to know I'm not taking your request seriously lol

  • Electric cars free people from a finite resource controlled by a few

AI data centres are intended to hook people on a new, artificially created, resource, controlled by a few

  • Okay this is fantastic, thanks
