The father of a university student fatally stabbed by a Sikh man has described how he is “tormented” by thoughts of his son bleeding to death on the floor chained in handcuffs while police treated his murderer with “decency”.
Henry Nowak was arrested in the minutes before he died after Vickrum Digwa, 23, lied and claimed he had racially abused him, knocked his turban off, and assaulted him.
On Monday, at Southampton Crown Court, Digwa was jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for stabbing the 18-year-old to death on Dec 4 last year.
Judge William Mousley KC said Henry had been “defenceless” when he was murdered by Digwa.
Henry’s father, Mark Nowak, said he constantly replayed what Henry must have been thinking as he was placed in handcuffs while struggling to breathe.
